There are three main types of CBD products that contain different combinations of cannabinoids that will result in different physical and mental effects. Full-spectrum CBD contains a small amount of THC as well as other terpenes; broad-spectrum CBD contains terpenes but no THC; and CBD isolate contains nothing but CBD.

The second piece of information to note is the strength of cannabinoids present, usually stated in milligrams (mg). Determining how much you’re getting in a single dose out of the entire product can require a bit of math. Luckily, all you have to do is divide the strength (mg) by the total product amount (mg or mL). For example, if a 20mL tincture bottle contains 1000mg of CBD, each 1mL you take (which is the typical dropper size) will deliver 50mg of CBD to your body.

Now that you’re familiar with your options, here are the perfect CBD types and strengths for every occasion!

Daytime distress

Go for broad-spectrum, medium-strength CBD when you get stressed at work. Remember—broad-spectrum products contain no THC, so you won’t feel foggy or tired. They do however contain other non-psychoactive cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids that can offer mood-boosting and pain-relieving benefits.

Pregame buzz

Social anxiety got ya? Not with a little CBD. For hitting the town for drink with friends, a full-spectrum CBD product with a lower potency will do the trick. Since full-spectrum CBD products include a very small percentage of THC, you’ll get a little more of a head buzz than you would with CBD isolate. Even though it does contain THC, it has to be less than 0.3% to be legally distributed, so you don’t have to worry about any anxiety or couch lock before you leave the house.

Best zzzs ever

For a bedtime wind-down, opt for a strong dose of CBD isolate. With no THC content, your mind will be able to fully rest without any racing thoughts. The CBD alone will relax your body and reduce any pain-causing inflammation. No more tossing and turning throughout the night due to discomfort.

Regardless of our recommendations, it’s important that you start with a low dose and work your way up once you’re familiar with how your body reacts. With CBD, even full-spectrum, you shouldn’t have to worry about a full-blown trip at work.
